To assist with the maintenance of the growing fleet, Ball Truckin has welcomed a new apprentice to join the company’s team of HGV mechanics.
New recruit Jay has started his apprenticeship working within the onsite HGV workshop facility. As part of his new role, Jay has been learning the ropes. Finding out about the fleet and how to spot, diagnose and fix any problems that arise.
Jay, who likes cars and motocross in his spare time, will be learning from others in the team alongside additional study in order to gain his qualification.
Talking about the apprenticeship, Jay said: “I’ve been working at Ball Truckin now for four months and it has been really good. I wanted to be a HGV mechanic so an apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to learn and get the qualifications needed to do the job. I’ve learnt such a lot working here and I like being able to work with the team and on my own.
“Everyone at Ball Truckin works as a team and there is a lot of variety in the work that we do, so I am always learning. So far, I have enjoyed diagnosing any issues with the trucks and having a go fixing them myself, so that they can get back out on the road. It’s great to be able to understand more about how parts work, learn from the team and gain that experience.
Jay has joined a team of HGV mechanics who operate from Ball Truckin’s vehicle maintenance facility in Atherstone, Warwickshire.
The workshop is responsible for maintaining Ball Truckin’s growing fleet of haulage and specialist transport vehicles that operate across the UK and beyond.
Ball Truckin Director Alan Ball said: “It has been fantastic to welcome Jay to the workshop see the progress he has made over the past few months. Our fleet are always busy out on the road, so it is crucial that we have skilled and knowledgeable workshop team who help to ensure that each vehicle is maintained and kept in top condition.
“Under the watchful eye of our experienced technicians, Jay will have the opportunity to learn and put his training into practice, which will help his ongoing development and career. Jay is already a key member of the Ball Truckin team and I’m looking forward to seeing his skills develop.”
